Definizione e utilizzo

La proprietà alt imposta o restituisce il valore dell'attributo alt di un'immagine.

L'attributo alt richiesto specifica un testo alternativo per un'immagine, se l'immagine non può essere visualizzata per qualche motivo (a causa di una connessione lenta, un errore nell'attributo src o se l'utente utilizza uno screen reader).

Nota: Internet Explorer visualizza il valore dell'attributo alt come suggerimento quando si passa il mouse sull'elemento <img>. Questo NON è il comportamento corretto, secondo la specifica HTML. Tutti gli altri browser seguono le specifiche e visualizzeranno il testo alternativo solo se l'immagine non può essere visualizzata.

Suggerimento: se desideri creare una descrizione comando per un'immagine, utilizza l'attributo del titolo globale.
